"OTG dance studio has been the perfect environment for my daughter to thrive as a dancer! Their talented, professional, and encouraging staff has helped her evolve over the years into a strong, graceful, expressive, and confident dancer. Most importantly, she considers OTG her second home and loves to dance there!"
Groundbreakers are Off The Ground's competitive dance teams. Each year, our Groundbreakers teams perform in four competitions, two dance showcases and an end of year recital. Dancers can choose to perform in up to 3 competitive styles, including Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop. Our Demi, Major, and Pro companies allow for dancers of varying experience to audition, but all involved are serious dancers who wish to improve their skills and experience through dedicated training, competition, and being part of an amazing team. Team requirements include: • Audition for team placement • One weekly, hour-long technique class in Ballet • One weekly, hour-long technique class in Leaps & Turns • One weekly, hour and a half long Groundbreaker class for each competitive style chosen
"We are incredibly thankful to OTG! The growth we have seen in our girls is outstanding. Not only from a dance perspective but from a self confidence one as well! Thank you for being great role models."
OUR APPRENTICE PROGRAM
is for dancers who would are interested in eventually joining a Groundbreakers team, but would like more experience and practice in a slightly less competitive environment. Over the course of a year, dancers in the Apprentice Program train and compete in 3 dance styles, and will participate in two competitions and an end of year recital. Our recital courses are a perfect way for you or your dancer to develop their skills in year-long class setting. Each class meets once a week for ten months, split into fall and winter sessions. Sessions includes recital-like Watch Weeks, and culminate in the year-end main recital. Recital Classes operate on two sessions, Fall/Winer and Winter/Spring. We strongly recommend that those who take recital classes also take at least one of our technique courses, Ballet or Turns & Leaps, which we offer at a 50% discount for those in a recital class. Note: to perform in the year end recital, dancers must attend both sessions. The styles of dance include:
Hip hop dancing has evolved over the years and keeps evolving today. From popping to breaking to commercial choreography, your dancer will learn how to become diverse in various hip hop styles. With focus on body isolations, musicality, and texture of movement, your dancer will learn a fun and influential way to dance.
Jazz dancers will learn a variation of classic and contemporary jazz technique, with a focus on isolations, pirouettes, leaps, and energetic movement. Classes consist of warm-ups, floor progressions, and center combinations.
Lyrical dancing is a mix between balletic movement, jazz technique , and modern/contemporary dance that is choreographed to the lyrics of a song. Lyrical is a great way for you dancer to become more graceful and mindful of connecting emotion with movement while still learning engaging choreography.
Ballet at OTG is a combination of Checetti, Russian, and modern ballet. We believe in dancers using ballet as a tool to heighten their performance and strengthen their technique in all other styles of dance. Ballet choreography at OTG takes a more modern approach and we currently do not offer certification in any ballet style.
